Confidentiality: Staff and Volunteers are expected to respect the privacy of participants by not disclosing any personal information or identifying details outside of the playdate setting.
Consistent Attendance and Punctuality: Regular attendance is crucial for the continuity and effectiveness of the playdates. Staff and volunteers are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and arrive on time. If unable to attend, advance notice to your supervisor is appreciated.
Listening: Staff and volunteers are encouraged to listen attentively when others are speaking, allowing everyone the opportunity to share their experiences and feelings without interruption or judgment.
Safety and Inclusion: All participants have the right to feel safe, respected, and included. Discriminatory language, harassment, or any form of verbal or physical aggression will not be tolerated. Respect for diverse experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives is expected from everyone at WonderSpace.
Use of Phones: To minimize distractions and maintain focus during playdates, the use of phones, including texting, calling, or browsing, is prohibited. Staff and volunteers should not take or post pictures of participants on platforms such as social media. Volunteers may offer to take a picture of a family using a caregiver/parents phone.
No Use of Alcohol/Drugs: The consumption of alcohol or drugs before or during WonderSpace is strictly prohibited. Participants under the influence will be asked to leave the session to ensure the safety and integrity of the playspace and its participants.
Fragrance-Free Environment: To accommodate individuals with sensitivities or allergies, participants are requested to refrain from wearing strong fragrances, colognes, or perfumes during WonderSpace.
Participant privacy and confidentiality will be respected by WonderSpace staff and volunteers. Please note the following limitations. By checking yes, you acknowledge you have read them:
Mandatory Reporting: If a participant discloses information that indicates a clear and imminent threat to themselves or others, including instances of child or elder abuse, WonderSpace staff is obligated by law to report this information to the appropriate authorities for intervention and protection.
Risk of Harm: If a participant expresses intentions or plans to harm themselves or others, immediate action may be taken to ensure their safety or the safety of potential victims. This may include involving emergency services, family members, or other support systems to mitigate the risk of harm.
Supervision and Consultation: WonderSpace Staff and volunteers may consult with colleagues, supervisors (director), or other professionals for the purpose of supervision, training, or professional development. In these consultations, identifying details will be kept confidential, and the focus will be on providing the best possible support and guidance to the participant.
Religious Affiliation: WonderSpace is a ministry of College Wesleyan Church. Staff and volunteers must be comfortable working in a church setting.
